Do you provide payments to merchants outside the US?
Sooner or later your best merchants want US customers too. If you can't offer US acceptance, they'll get it somewhere else and you risk losing them.
OutlinePay is one API that adds US payment acceptance to your product. Your brand, your fee on every payment, your merchants. We stay mostly invisible underneath.
// you never pay us anything · merchants pay a small fee on each payment · you collect a payout every month
If your business helps merchants take online payments in exchange for small transaction fees, OutlinePay is the fastest way to plug your merchants into US processors. One integration, your brand on every surface.
You don't need a US entity or a processor account. We handle acceptance, merchant onboarding, risk and payouts behind your brand.
Your brand. Your fee. Your merchants.
Nearly invisible under your brand
In most surfaces, from checkout to onboarding to compliance, we stay minimally visible.
An API your engineers will vouch for
A REST API with idempotency on every write, signed webhooks, documented error conventions, and a public OpenAPI spec.
US merchant-of-record, handled
We guide your merchants through onboarding, KYC, and risk, so they start accepting US payments without dealing with the processor themselves.
No processor lock-in
One API, any processor. Stripe today, more later, and your integration does not change when we add one.
Who carries the risk, who owns the merchants, and what happens if you leave.
If a merchant goes bad, who eats the loss?
The processor does. Screening merchants is still a duty you share with us. But the processor makes the final KYC call on every merchant, and with that call comes responsibility for negative merchant balances. We only work with processors that accept this, so a bad merchant is not a debt on your books, and not on ours either.
Who owns the merchant relationship?
You do. The agreement bars us from soliciting your merchants, during the partnership and after it ends.
What happens if we part ways?
Ninety days of normal processing. A complete export of your merchants, payments, and payout history, available any time you ask, not only at the end. And where each merchant goes next is your decision.
Three steps to your first US payment.
Integrate
Drop our API into your platform with a sandbox key. Create merchants, spin up checkouts and payment links, and subscribe to webhooks.
Onboard your merchants
Embed our compliance components. Merchants finish US onboarding in your own UI while the processor handles KYC and risk.
Get paid
Your merchants accept US payments. You earn your fee on every transaction, settled to you monthly.
OutlinePay costs your business nothing.
Every fee is part of the merchant's payment: the processor's cost, our flat 0.5%, and your own fee on top, which you set and keep. Your earnings settle to you in the first week of each month.
Get a free sandbox keyCapped at $5 on bank payments, where the rails cost a flat amount however large the payment is. Your own fee is capped there too, and you set the ceiling.
Try the full API for free.
The real API with test keys, not a demo. Every endpoint, webhook, and error behaves as it does live. Send your engineers the docs.
The questions platforms ask us first.
General
What does OutlinePay actually take off our plate?
One integration point to US payment processors, covering payment acceptance, merchant onboarding, compliance, and payouts. Your platform offers US payments under its own brand, without your merchants ever knowing OutlinePay exists. Your branding, UX, and merchant relationships stay yours.
Is OutlinePay a payment processor?
No. Payments are processed by licensed payment processors, Stripe today with more on the roadmap. OutlinePay is the software layer that connects your platform to them, through one API that stays the same as processors are added.
Does OutlinePay hold our merchants' money?
No. Funds settle from the payment processor to each merchant directly, and OutlinePay never takes custody of merchant funds. Your platform's own earnings are settled to you separately, every month.
If a merchant goes bad, who absorbs the loss?
Not your platform. When a merchant's account ends up with losses that can't be recovered from the merchant, that loss is not passed through to you, and we only integrate processors that can stand behind this. Day-to-day fraud screening and dispute handling happen at the merchant level; see the Stripe questions below.
How does our platform earn on this?
You set your own per-payment fee on top of the costs in the pricing section, and you keep all of it. It accrues on every payment your merchants take and settles to you monthly.
How much engineering work is the integration?
One REST integration with a sandbox key: create merchants, open checkouts and payment links, embed the onboarding component, subscribe to webhooks. There is no processor-specific code to write. Plan a few weeks, not quarters. Read the quickstart →
Our company isn't in a country Stripe serves. Can we still offer US payments?
Yes. Your platform never needs a Stripe account or a US entity of its own. Your merchants hold their own accounts, as US-registered entities, and OutlinePay is the software layer connecting your platform to them. Documentation and integration support come in English and Korean.
Where do our merchants need to be registered?
In the US, or in one of the other countries on the country page. A US-registered entity lets a merchant transact as a US merchant of record at US-domestic rates. A merchant registered elsewhere onboards with its local entity and pays its own country's processing rates. Tell us which country and we enable it. See the countries →
What happens if we stop working with OutlinePay?
Your merchants are yours, and that doesn't change when a contract ends. You get 90 days of normal processing to transition, you decide where each merchant goes next, and we hand you a complete export of your merchants, payments, and payout history. We're contractually barred from soliciting your merchants, during the partnership and after it. Your merchants' balances keep paying out to their banks throughout, and your final fee settlement follows once the dispute window closes. Read the Partner Agreement →
Payments via Stripe
What is OutlinePay's relationship with Stripe?
Payments for the merchants you onboard today are processed by Stripe. Each merchant is verified with Stripe in its own name and transacts through its own account underneath, which OutlinePay creates and manages through the API as part of onboarding.
What does Stripe onboarding look like for our merchants?
Each merchant completes Stripe's verification once (KYC, the identity and business checks) inside an embedded component that renders in your UI. Your platform starts it with one API call and follows progress through webhooks.
Who handles disputes and chargebacks?
The merchant does, directly. Disputes surface in an embedded component where the merchant responds with evidence, so your platform does not have to build or staff a dispute process.
Why might a buyer see a different currency than the merchant's price?
Stripe can show a non-US buyer the price in their local currency at checkout. It is a convenience for the buyer only: the merchant's price, the settlement, and every amount your platform sees in the API stay in the currency the payment was created in.

A US-registered entity, and the US market opens up.
Your merchants need a US-registered business entity. That's what unlocks US card acceptance as a merchant of record, so they sell to American customers in dollars, on the same footing as a US business, without their own processor relationships.
Merchants registered in one of the 43 other countries the processor serves can onboard with their local entity. We enable a country when a partner asks.
